Geoffrey Brahmer's lecture The Diary of Herman Kruk: A Librarian in the Vilna Ghetto from last night's Studio A production is now available to watch OnDemand. Prior to being murdered in the holocaust, Herman Kruk, a socialist librarian, was asked by fellow prisoners, “Why write a diary? We are all going to be killed anyway.” Kruk responded, “ . . . Drunk on a pen, trembling in my hand, I record everything for future generations. . . . If I must die, it must not die with me.
