Science for the Public: "Cancer Research: How It Works and Why It's Crucial Today"

In this live program, hosted by Yvonne Stapp of Science for the Public - Dr. Gerald Denis, of the Denis Laboratory-Cancer Research Center at Boston University will explain how cancer research works, the influence of American cancer research worldwide and and how recent federal de-funding of the NIH sets back the progress in cancer treatment at a time when cancers are increasing.
The public is invited to attend this live presentation/discussion at the Belmont Media Center in Waverley Square.
The Belmont Council on Aging has arranged for a shuttle to bring seniors to BMC and back to Beech Street Center.

Professor Gerald Denis, a molecular oncologist at Boston Medical Center, investigates a range of cancers and their causes. Some of his important studies include prostate cancer and breast cancer, which are increasing today. He focuses on relationships between specific factors such as metabolic conditions (e.g., obesity and diabetes) and certain types of cancer.
