Thursday, July 2

11:25 a.m.: A Belmont resident reported check fraud. A check she wrote and mailed on June 25, 2026 was washed and chased for $3,052.12, payable to Michael P. Buckley. It was originally payable to Regional Care Services for $250.8 and placed inside a mailbox on the corner of Chester and Oakley Roads on June 25 at 6:30 p.m. Everything on the check was forged except her signature.

9:15 p.m.: Disturbance between neighbors on Thayer Road. One neighbor complained that the other neighbor dumped food off her upstairs balcony onto the front porch of her mother’s apartment. When she approached her about the incident, she swore at her and pushed her. The police officer observed rice on the ground near the sidewalk in front of the building, which the neighbor confirmed she threw from her balcony. She was visibly upset and said the other neighbor entered her apartment and locked her out. When she was finally able to open the door, she pushed the other woman out of her apartment into the hallway and began cursing at her and threatening her. She also said her apartment is infested with cockroaches and rats and she threw her garbage outside so rodents wouldn’t come into her apartment. The other neighbor confirmed she stepped into the residence to speak to her, but once she was inside, the door shut by itself and locked from the outside. She realized it was locked and opened it as soon as she could, which is when the other neighbor pushed her into the hallway. The woman was advised to contact the police if there is ever an issue with her mother’s neighbors and not try to take matters into her own hands

Sunday, July 5

12:07 a.m.: A Benton Road resident reported a motor vehicle break-in. The resident received a motion alert from his driveway camera on his phone. The camera observed an individual entering his 2020 Subaru Forester parked in his driveway. He described the individual as a white male with dark hair, a beard, wearing a white t-shirt, grey pants and dark shoes. When his driveway light activated, the individual walked up Benton Road towards Oakley Road. Nothing was taken from his vehicle. Officers searched the area but were unable to loathe anyone matching the description in the vicinity. While searching the area, an abandoned black bike with a yellow fork was located at the intersection of Benton Road and Indian Hill Road and was logged as found property. Note: On July 3, officers observed a known criminal riding the same bicycle along Belmont Street. He has an extensive history of breaking into vehicles at night. The individual breaking into the reporting party’s car had similar physical characteristics as this known criminal.

1:05 a.m.: An Essex Road resident reported a motor vehicle break-in. When she was returning home in an Uber she received a notification on her phone from her driveway camera. She observed a white male with dark hair and a beard, wearing a white shirt, dark pants and black shoes, enter a car in her driveway. Nothing was missing from her 2019 Toyota. After entering the car, it appeared the individual walked along Essex Road towards Old Middlesex Road. The individual appears to be the same one observed on Benton Road. Officers were unable to locate an individual matching the description in the area.

3:27 p.m.: A Belmont woman reported seven money orders were stolen from her apartment. They were $500 each, totaling $3,500. She purchased the money orders on June 26, 2026. Pest Control and HVAC were in her apartment and she was unable to find them since that day. She said she did not know what specific pest control and HVAC companies worked in her apartment. She was not interested in figuring out who stole the orders, but  more interested in receiving the police report to stop the orders from processing. She is not out any money, but is concerned whoever stole them will use them soon and needs a report to stop that from happening.

6:40 p.m.: A Belmont woman reported that on July 1, 2026, she moved from Cross Street in Belmont. She hired a moving company through U-Haul. At approximately 10 a.m. on July 1, the movers arrived and she began to show them everything she wanted to move out of her home. She had a pair of Raybans that were approximately $300 sitting on top of her dresser before the movers arrived. She was showing the movers the dresser with the glasses on them and all three of them began to hover around the dresser and take it apart to move it outside. She does not recall if the glasses were still there while the movers were taking them apart. She stated she has been unpacking in her new home all weekend and they are nowhere to be found. She looked through all the boxes and drawers of all furniture and she has not been able to locate them.

2:13 p.m.: A Belmont resident reported fraud. He mailed his rent check June 1 to his landlord from the United States postal mailbox on the corner of Belmont Street and Springfield Street. The amount written was $2,175. His landlord never received the check. He checked his account online and noticed two other checks were fraudulently written using his signature and cashed at a bank in Foxboro. The first was made out to Michael P. Buckley for $2,175. The second was also made out to Michael P. Buckley for $2,000. TD Bank suspended the account and launched an investigation to attempt to retrieve the funds. He suffered no other financial loss at this time.

3:45 p.m.: Suspicious male on Country Club Lane. A man came up to a resident’s front door Ring camera looking to see if someone was home. He was possibly Hispanic and wearing a baseball hat. When a police officer arrived on the scene, he observed a male wearing a baseball. He was walking towards the police officer. When he saw the cruiser, he turned and started walking in the opposite direction. Another officer was approaching Country Club Lane and upon seeing him, the suspicious male turned around again. The officer made contact with him and the male informed him he was looking for a friend’s house. When asked where his friend lived, he could not remember. The officer asked for his identification and he provided it. His explanation for why he approached the house on Country Club Lane was inconsistent. At first, he said he thought it was his friend’s house. Then, he said he was in the area to look at Belmont Country Club. Finally, he said it was not his friend’s house, but his cousin’s house and he could not remember his cousin’s name. When asked how he got to the area, he said his car was parked around the corner. He pointed in the direction of  Grey Birch Park. Moments later, he said he had in fact parked in the driveway of the home on Country Club Lane. The car is registered under his name. Officers told him he was free to leave and he drove away. They checked the perimeter of the house and it was secure.

10 a.m.: A Belmont resident reported harassment. His former roommate has been harassing him. They lived together from July 2025 until recently when he decided to move out of the Pine Street apartment. Since moving out, she has been showing up at Tatte and Butternut Bakehouse in Belmont when he is there, yelling at him for money that he owes her. He said they signed a written agreement stating that he will pay back for rent and utilities as he is able, regardless of how long it takes. He said she has embarrassed him on several occasions inside local establishments and he is in fear of her. He was advised to contact the police if she continues to harass him and put him in fear.

Friday, July 10

8:17 a.m.: Dispute between tenant and landlord on Thayer Street. This morning, mold removal contractors hired by her landlord arrived to remove items that had been damaged by mold. The contractors were going to clean certain personal belongings before returning them to the basement. She did not want those items returned to her as she was concerned about the mold returning and did not want to keep destroyed items. The contractors explained there had been a misunderstanding, stating they were there to remove and document all damaged items in the basement. It was explained to her that in accordance with their procedures, items made of certain materials could be cleaned and returned to her should she want them. The contractors were not requiring her to keep any damaged/destroyed property. After explaining this to her, she was satisfied and let the contractors begin their work.

11:41 a.m.: Belmont Police responded to a bicyclist down on Amherst Road. Belmont Fire and Rescue also responded. The bicyclist was a Cumberland Road resident. He appeared disoriented and was not wearing a helmet. He was having difficulty answering questions from firefighters who were administering care. He was operating an electric bicycle and due to road construction, accidentally lost control. He was transported to Mount Auburn Hospital. An officer made contact with his family and they said they would retrieve his bicycle. A witness said he saw the boy lose control over his bicycle coming down Amherst Road. He was standing in front of his house speaking with a contractor when he saw him coming down the street. While trying to regain control of the bike he fell and the bike struck the side of his car, causing a deep scratch.

She said the package was delivered on July 8 at 12:17 p.m. and left on the front steps outside the building. On July 9, at approximately 6 p.m., she went to retrieve the package, but it was gone. This has been an ongoing issue within the apartment complex. The officer spoke to the building staff and they stated they don’t have cameras on the outside of the buildings.

7:01 p.m.: A possible stolen motor vehicle was reported at Lone Tree Hill. A woman with her dog said she parked her vehicle in the parking lot and began to walk the trails with her dog. She checked the Rock Meadow parking lot across the street, but did not see her vehicle there either. She then decided to call the police. She noticed a few teenagers on bicycles in the lot prior to taking her dog for a walk on the trails. She thought nothing of it. She normally does not lock her vehicle and had a spare set of keys in the vehicle console. She began to walk the trail at 6 p.m. She left her purse containing her work phone in the vehicle. She would speak with someone at her place of employment to attempt to track its location. The vehicle was entered into CJIS and an officer drove the woman back to her residence on Marsh Street. At 8:56 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the area of Concord Avenue to look for the stolen vehicle. The officer saw a vehicle parked at Highland Meadows Cemetery. It was a stolen vehicle. Belmont Control was notified. The vehicle was empty. The woman took an  Uber to the cemetery because she said she needed her car for work. There were no keys in the ignition and the steering column appeared intact. A bottle of Svedka vodka in a brown paper bag and a soda can was removed from the rear seat. She said neither of those items belonged to her. The vehicle was returned to her.

9:19 p.m.: An electric bicycle was stolen from Star Market on Trapelo Road. The owner said he parked it outside the entrance closest to Trapelo Road at about 8:50 p.m. He said he was inside for about 20 minutes until 9:10 pm. And when he came out his bike was gone. It’s a Jason model, black and grey. It had a rainbow-colored key and the seat was really low. He is unsure of the serial number but said he could find it and let the police not. It was about $300. An employee said he saw a young black male with short brown curly hair with orange in the front of the store. He was walking around the bike and then took it down towards Trapelo Road. He didn’t know that it didn’t belong to him and saw him looking at a few bikes on the bike rack. Belmont Police are requesting video surveillance through the security office.
