Volunteer Needed for Event Coverage Tomorrow!
We are looking for a volunteer camera operator to record an event at Belmont Books. Red Sox public address announcer Dick Flavin will be reading from his book "Red Sox Rhymes: Verses and Curses." Event takes place on Tuesday, October 3rd at 7:00 PM at Belmont Books on 79 Leonard Street. Volunteer should arrive an hour early for setup. Dick Flavin is the poet laureate of the Boston Red Sox and voice of Fenway Park. He is New York Times best selling author, playwright, Emmy Award winning television commentator and nationally known speaker. In 2011 he was inducted into the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame. He has written and performed scores of verses and ballads on the Red Sox, their iconic ballpark, their storied players, their ups, their downs and their occasional glories. His book, Red Sox Rhymes: Verses and Curses, published by William Morrow, a division of Harper Collins, was on the New York Times best-seller list for sports books. Flavin serves as the public address announcer for Red Sox day games at Fenway Park. He has narrated a series of documentaries on the history of the Red Sox and Fenway Park that are shown on NESN, the New England Sports Network. He was the narrator of The Teammates, an ESPN documentary that was nominated for three national Emmy Awards. He won seven New England Regional Emmy Awards for his commentaries on WBZ-TV in Boston. He is the author of, and has starred in, According to Tip, the acclaimed one-man play about legendary Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill. He in involved with several charities in the New England area and is often asked to entertain at business and corporate events.
