Kitchen to Kitchen: Recipe for Tiramisu

Erika Di Tuoro's family recipe for the Italian dessert, Tiramisu featured on "Kitchen to Kitchen's" debut episode.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups Mascarpone Cheese
  • 1 Package Ladyfingers
  • 1 Cup Espresso  Coffee
  • 3 Fresh Eggs
  • 1/3 Cup Sugar 
  • Cocoa powder sprinkle on top

Steps:

1. Make espresso, cool in a large bowl.

2. Prepare the mascarpone cream:

  • Separate eggs in 2 bowls.
  • Whip the egg whites firmly, then set aside.
  • Add sugar to egg yolks, whisk together.
  • Once mixed together, add the mascarpone cheese, one tbsp at a time.
  • When cheese mixture is smooth, fold the whipped egg whites into it.

3. Assemble the tiramisù:

  • Layer bottom of an 8-by-8 pan with 1/3 of the Mascarpone cream mixture.
  • Immerse ladyfingers (for a few seconds) into the espresso and layer on top of the cream.
  • Add 1/3 layer of. mascarpone cream mixture on top of the lady finger layer.
  • Add another layer of ladyfingers soaked in espesso.
  • Add final layer of mascarpone cream mixture on top.
  • Sprinkle tiramisù with cocoa powder.

4. Cover with foil and refrigerate for two hours.

5. Mangia.
