Belmont Rising

Belmont celebrates women through the second annual BelmontRising program, part of OneBillion Rising. This event raises awareness on the issue of violence against women.

The program includes four 20-minute panel discussions hosted by Belmont's Tomi Olson and Maggie Rose. The panelist include Lt Kristin Henebury Daley, BelmontPD, Nava Niv Vogel (COA),  Erin McNeill, Media Literacy Now, Nina Livingstone and Rita Shah. They will be discussing the following topics: What Abuse Looks Like, Recovery from Abuse, Educational Resources for Survivors and Families and Abuse in the Senior Population. 

To add to the celebration, we will have music and dance performances recorded in the studio. Performers include singer, songwriter Cheryl Arena, teenage singer Olivia Kerins, Dancers from Fred Astaire Dance Studio, The BelAir’s, Jayshree from the Bharathakalai School of Dance and Patrice Monahan.

Belmont Rising will air on channels 9 (Comcast) and 29 (Verizon) during the following dates and times:

Friday, Feb. 21st at 2:00pm and 7:00pm

Saturday, Feb. 22nd at 12:00pm and 8:30pm

Sunday, Feb. 23rd at 12:00pm and 8:30pm
