Directing as StorytellingSo you’ve run the studio cameras, punched the buttons on the switcher, watched the needles bounce on the audio mixer, and you’ve called the shots on a few shows, yourself.Now you’re ready to learn the “art” of directing in Studio A by combining available technology and show format to tell a story that will engage and interest your audience an challenge you to advance your skills to a new level.

This fast-paced, hands-on workshop will focus on how to be creative & resourceful under pressure and keep your cool by leading your crew to produce really good television.

Directing Commands & Production Roles

  • Pre-Production: Prepare the Crew, Rehearse the Talent
  • Translating a show format into a storyline / script
  • Turning production limitations: time, budget, and resources into creative opportunities

This class is for anyone with some experience crewing in Studio A and best suited fort those with some experience & basic understanding of directing multi-camera TV productions.

Jeff Hansell brings 30 years of real world experience from shooting news for CNN, editing TV features for news bureaus in Europe, writing-directing-editing TV commercials, and producing & directing hundreds of live studio TV shows in every format.
