First Mondays: Orientation to Community Media
So you want to host your own TV show? Want to document community events? Would you like to make media on issues that affect you and your community? Are you interested in volunteering on a program already in production? Or do you just want to find out more about BMC?
Then come to one of the next First Monday Orientations and learn how you can become a BMC member, take classes, use our equipment & facilities, find out about policies, and learn the many ways you can be involved at BMC and how your involvement can benefit you, your organization, your school, and your community. Attending an Orientation to BMC is a requirement for anyone wishing to join the Belmont Media Center. There is no cost for this seminar

Field Video Production: Beginner
This 4-hour course will introduce you to the camcorders BMC has to offer. The first session will introduce the equipment and cover basic on-location production techniques including: site evaluation, tripod use, Hand-held camera techniques, shot composition, amera movement, audio, lighting. We will work through typical filming scenarios to prepare members for their own productions. Members have the option of bringing their own camcorders for use with hands-on assignments. In the follow-up session students will bring in their own work to discuss technique and related issues.

Advanced Field Production: Lighting
This 2 session, 4-hour course will focus on lighting. Students bring in their own work to discuss lighting and related issues. We will work through typical filming scenarios to prepare members for their own productions. Members have the option of bringing their own camcorders for use with hands-on assignments.

@ Beech Street Senior Center for students 55 and older.
A new class from BMC & Council on Aging: Seniors are paired up in one-on-one sessions with high school volunteers who’ll help them get the most out of their new device: whether a mobile phone, digital camera, or tablet. Learn from the experts in a fun and easy-going atmosphere and at your own pace. This class is free, but you must register in advance and you must indicate what device you will be bringing.

Make a Movie in a Day
One of BMC's most popular classes for youths of all ages, "Make a Movie in One Day" classes are usually offered during school vacations and in the summer. In this fast-paced challenge class, small crews of kids learn how to structure a short movie, then then write a script, shoot, act, direct and finally edit the shots into a finished movie for screening all in the course of one fun day.

Editing with Adobe Premiere: Beginners
Over four 2.5 hour workshops, you will learn everything to get started with Adobe Premiere. From properly setting up Adobe for video format and organizing your files on the hard drive to basic editing, transitions, filters, titles, and integrating Photoshop images and music on the timeline. The class will also explore the different tools, keyboard shortcuts, and effects in order to enhance your projects.

Shooting in Studio A: Multi-Camera Video Production
All aspects of Studio A Production from camera operation and engineering to lighting and audio will be covered in this workshop consisting of 2 90-Minute sessions. A basic introduction to the Broadcast Pix switcher will also be discussed. This workshop is required for any producer wishing to produce a program out of Studio A. Smaller workshops may be designed for crewmembers to work in specific tasks.

Directing Television in Studio A | The TV Director as Storyteller
So you’ve run the studio cameras, punched the buttons on the switcher, watched the needles bounce on the audio mixer, and you’ve called the shots on a few shows, yourself.Now you’re ready to learn the “art” of directing in Studio A by combining available technology and show format to tell a story that will engage and interest your audience an challenge you to advance your skills to a new level.
This fast-paced, hands-on workshop will focus on how to be creative & resourceful under pressure and keep your cool by leading your crew to produce really good television.

This class is for anyone with some experience crewing in Studio A and best suited fort those with some experience & basic understanding of directing multi-camera TV productions.
