How to Make a Movie in One Day Office of the Governor BMC Wants You! - CREW CALL BMC Overnight & Videos Online wants YOU!Many programs seen on Belmont Media Center cable TV access channels are the work of your friends, neighbors, colleagues, and a host of community minded BMC members all volunteering their ideas, skills, time, and enthusiasm in bringing the voice and vision of your community to life at the Belmont Media Center. If you enjoy the local programming on BMC and would like to see expanded coverage of local events, sports, the arts, youth/seniors and community news, then Don't just view it - do it! Even if you have as few as 3 hours a month, you can join the BMC Volunteer Video Crew and keep local programming alive and independent. BMC will train you "on-the-job", or in a scheduled class session so that you can run a studio camera, work the audio board, create computer graphics, shoot in the field, or get in front of the camera yourself. On-Air Belmont with Suzzanne Cromwell A co-production of The Belmont Council on Aging & BMC, On-Air Belmont is a lively community news and events update hosted by the Senior Center's own Suzzanne Cromwell. On-Air Belmont usually tapes on Fridays mornings and is always in need of camera people and other crew persons. Join us! Talk of the Town with Steve Rosales Steve Rosales returns to the airwaves next month in a revamped version of his long running popular program. The "new" Talk of the Town will also include a new feature: The Belmont Business Report - highlighting a variety of Belmont small business centers. ------ Points in the Paint ! Sports talk show hosted by three Belmont High School students needs studio crew and a dedicated producer/director for their lively recap of the week in local and national sports. Shooting every Monday in the BMC studio. Interested? Call BMC Program Director Julie DeStefano. ------ The Pat Lawrence Show A long running program on BMC, hosted by health and mental health advocate Pat Lawrence. Guests range from experts in the health and wellness field, to politicians, artists and filmmakers. BMC Overnight & Videos Online Are you a "night owl"? Did you miss a recent BMC program? Or is there a show you just can't see during prime time? Well now, you have two ways to catch programs on BMC-TV. Every night between Midnight and 9am, you can catch selected repeats of scheduled programming that runs on Channels 8 & 9-for Comcast subscribers, and 28 & 29 for Verizon FiOS-TV viewers. BMC, working with Belmont's Animal Control Officer John Maguranis provides a LOST & FOUND PETS section on the Community Bulletin Board for local residents to post notices about lost pets as well for those folks who have found a stray dog or cat. Download and print out a Pets Notice HERE then fax it to BMC @ 617-484-2446 Or send by email to: access@belmontmedia.org or call BMC and leave a message in the general mailbox ~ 617-484-2443. All notices for Pets Lost & Found get posted immediately, but the quickest way is to get your notices on the air is by email. And if you have a photo of the pet, and include it in your email Or stop by the BMC Studio and drop off the material and we'll see that it gets posted to the Community Bulletin Board - Channel 96 on COMCAST and Channel 30 on VERIZON. Remember to let us know when you find your pet so we can keep the postings up to date. We are seeking short videos (3 to 5 minutes in length) created by Belmont youth between the ages of 9 and 17. Videos may be submitted in any format and can be dropped off at Belmont Media Center (Room 117 in the high school) weekdays between 12pm and 8pm or at the Studio Cinema, 376 Trapelo Road. Deadline is Friday, August 1st. Entry forms will be available at both locations, or download a form at belmontmedia.org. There is no entry fee. Videos may be of any topic but must be suitable viewing for all ages. All film and video makers will be recognized at the festival and presented with a certificate and a small prize. A "Viewer's Choice" will be voted on the day of the festival. If you have any questions about the Video Festival, please email Stacey Conley Youth Video Class: How to Make A Movie in One Day To help aspiring videomakers, the Belmont Media Center will host a "How to Make a Movie in One Day" workshop. This class will be offered three times this summer during the following dates and times: Friday, July 18th, 10:00am - 4:00pm Friday, July 25th, 10:00am - 4:00pm Saturday, July 26th, 10:00am - 4:00pm This is a fun and fast-paced class on the art and technique of writing, shooting and editing digital video, using BMC's equipment, which will be available to check-out at no cost to everyone completing the course. Students with their own video cameras or other video gear may bring it to class and receive instruction and training at the same time. Everyone completing the course will receive a BMC membership. Cost is only $20 and is open to the public. Lunch will be provided. Registration deadline is July 11th. Space is limited, so don't hesitate to sign up. course will teach you the basics in shooting
professional looking video in in the field, or "on-the-run" for a wide
variety of situations. If you have your own video camera , bring it
with you and we'll be sure to customize training for your camera.
At the same time, you'll learn the basics of non-linear video editing with Apple's easy to use and fun iMovie HD software. iMovie has become the standard for many consumers and video professionals who want a simple and quick way to professionally edit their video, but with some capability to integrate photos, artworks, music, special effects, and titles. Upon completion, you'll be certified to check out BMC field cameras and reserve our editing bays. Prerequisite: BMC Membership. Class led by BMC staff

If you are a member of a Belmont church, synagogue, community group, school or local government, you can check to see if your announcement is running on BMC and if it needs to to be updated.
