The Y Chromosome: Its Evolution, Survival
and Medical Implications

David Page, M.D.
Director, Whitehead Institute
Professor of Biology, MIT
Investigator, HHMI Medical Institute

David Page, M.D. decoded the male chromosome and established its evolutionary history, explaining how the Y survived despite the loss of so many of its genes.  On the 23rd of September he'll discuss all this along with his recent work on the relationship between the Y chromosome and medical conditions that disproportionately affect males (such as autism).  This work has very significant implications for medical research and for the development of medications.
