Chester R. Messer retired as President of KeySpan Energy Delivery, New England (formerly Boston Gas and its subsidiaries) in 2002. During his business career, he served as a director of many industry associations including the Southern Gas Association/Cable Television Network.
He has serviced the wider community as General Chairman of the 2001 United Way of Mass. Bay Fund Raising Campaign. Current activities include, the Salvation Army State Board of Advisors, an Overseer of WGBH; and president of the New Seabury Men’s Golf Association on Cape Cod.
In 1999, The Salvation Army bestowed the prestigious "Others" award on Mr. Messer for his foresight in the establishment of "Good Neighbor Energy Fund” in early 1980’s.
Locally, he is a past president of the Belmont Boosters and a founder of the Belmont Basketball Association. Mr. Messer and his wife live in Belmont and they have two married children and six grandchildren. He is a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church in Belmont and serves as its moderator.
He has served as a volunteer videographer for the Belmont Media Center.
